More Information about the Musician Job.

The Harp was made in Ancient Egypt thousands of years ago. They were based off the Bow and arrow. If you look at the picture at the top of the page, you can see the relations between the Harp and the Bow and Arrow. The harp had four to five strings, as time went on, they added about 17 to 18 strings. Since they added more strings the harp got bigger and heavier. A harp normally had the statue of a pharaoh on the end and their name engraved in the harp. The Harp strings were made of animal sinew. Some musicians could only play for special events and the royals had a lot of parties that the musicians would attend. The parties would last a really long time so the Harpists and other musicians had to play a lot. The Ancient Egyptians really liked romantic love song so the harpists would have to learn and memorize them before the parties. The rich and pharaohs would prefer a blind harpist but know one ever figured out why. Rich children would get to learn how to play instruments just for pleasure, since you needed to be taught, it was very expensive to learn an instrument you had to be rich to learn how to play them. You could also sign up for a job to play an instruments and they would teach you. If you were really good you would play for a pharaoh. Some people didn’t play for pharaohs, but only for parties and other events such as a funeral. There was also music in everyday life like people sang while they were rowing a boat to keep their rhythm going. The farmers or musicians would sing for their oxen so they would work harder.
